Old School New Body Review: Effective or Just a Gimmick?

Welcome to my Old School New Body Review. In this detailed review, I go through all the major details of OSNB and break it down into easy to read chunks to help you decide whether or not S oldschool3dteve and Becky F4X system is for you or not. If you’re looking for somewhere to download Old School New Body, you can do so here.

Have you ever thought that as you move closer to your 40th birthday, no matter what gender you are, your body starts getting old faster than it usually does?

Various studies have proven that without proper nutrition and exercise the human body is going to roughly age 6 months extra for every year it passes.

Just imagine.

If you’re 40 now, by the time you reach 44 you will feel and look 46. If that doesn’t make you think twice, think about it this way; By the time you’re 60, you’ll feel and look like a 70 year old! If you’re finding that hard to believe then have a look around once in a while. As you age, you can ALWAYS tell who looks after themselves and who doesn’t.

What is Old School New Body?

Old School New Body (OSNB) is a unique program that will enable you to burn fat or ‘lose weight’ and slow down the aging process. Created by Steve and Becky Holman, Old School New Body has be structured to improve your look, make you lose weight, reverse the aging process and even change your way of thinking.

The Old School New Body training doesn’t require taking anti-aging drugs, gimmicks or supplements and it works for everyone, male and female, 35, 50, 60, 75 or any other age.

Does OSNB actually work? Well I’ll get more into that in a second. Firstly let’s get a little back ground on the authors.

steve-holmanWho are Steve and Becky Holman?

The program was created by Steve and Becky Holman. Being both in their 50s they look incredibly sound and cheerful couple!

Steve Holman works as Senior Editor in one of the oldest and most popular magazines about fitness – Iron Man Magazine. Don’t let the name of this magazine confuse you though. Iron Man Magazine is well known for its solid nutrition and exercise advice, whatever your end goal.

Becky, his wife, was the one who decided to share the fitness methods from Old School New Body, and now there is a large female community that succeeds in the program. The end goal is to help people (regardless of their gender) to maintain a younger body by burning fat and tightening up muscles.

What exactly is Old School New Body?

So, what’s this Old School New Body program all about?

Old School New Body features the basic principles that old school natural bodybuilders (those that didn’t use steroids) used to get their physiques, all while confined into a 30-minute workout.

The program is easy to follow, perfectly fits newbies and those over 35. Steve & Becky Holman’s program focuses on what is called the F4X.

Old School New Body Review: What is the Old School New Body F4X?

Is it a Protocol? Method? System? Exercises? Gimmick?

Well if we go off what Google says;

‘Proposed version with water injection capable of exceeding mach 3’

………….not what we’re looking for.

F4X in relation to Old School New Body actually stands for a combination of a few things. So all of the above minus the gimmick!

F4X involves structuring the workout around 4 foundational whole body exercises to ensure your body burns fat, builds strength and overall helps your body slow down the aging process and you get older.’

The program itself is divided into 3 phases: Lean, Shape, and Build.

Lean

The Lean Phase is really the foundation of the whole program. This part of Old School New Body is designed around growth-threshold training.

‘Growth-threshold training is point at which the level of fatigue in the muscle is high enough that growth response is elicited’ says Lee Labrada (Champion Pro Body Builder)

didyouknow1c - Copy…..this basically means, that in order for your body to burn fat and promote muscle gain you will work the muscles until they progressively get more tired. This then results in increased fat burning and muscle growth.

This method of training can actually be used as a stand-alone protocol with great results.

Shape

The Shape Phase is a bit more intensive. That said however, you’ll never workout more than 3 times a week. In these workouts you continue to lose fat and begin to add shape to your muscles.

This time round the workouts are slightly different in structure (time, sets, weight etc). This is imperative to see results, as continually doing the same workouts over and over again will only start to send your body ‘backwards’ – wasting a lot of time.

Build

The Build Phase was specifically designed for those of you who are looking for that extra level. As the name suggests it primarily focuses on maximum muscle growth.

This phase isn’t for everyone. I understand that.

However, it is well worth noting that using this phase a few times a year isn’t going to turn you into the next Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Overall the three phases cover all parts of a properly structured periodization plan which effectively burns fat, makes you look good and adds the icing on top to finish off with.

Nutrition

After finishing my own personal review on the program I decided to have a look at what other customers were saying.

One question that kept cropping up was whether or not there was a ‘diet program’ included.

You’ve probably heard it a million times; ‘…you can’t out-train a bad diet’

This is true. But a ‘bad diet’ isn’t just confined to the walls of ‘Good Food Vs Bad Food’

Programs such as OSNB require a slightly different approach to body fuel (nutrition and food! due to the nature of the exercise.

The F4X style of training requires us to not only feed ourselves with the right food, but also fuel our bodies at the right time to support our workouts as well as supporting our growth.

As you move through each of the phases you are also led through ways in which you can and should fuel your body. Taking all the guess work out to leave you will a pretty simple system to follow.

Benefits of Old School New Body

Besides the 3 different workout phases it does come with a lot of add on benefits like any program should. The biggest one the Steve and Becky promote is the anti-aging.

By using the Growth-Threshold training your body releases growth hormones which in turn help you slow down the aging process.

This is triggered really by any decent workout program – not just Old School New Body. The one thing that Steve and Becky’s program does have above most other programs on the market is that their type of training is designed to increase muscle growth – therefore directly looking to trigger the release of growth hormones in your body.

Is it going to make you like you’re 18 again? Probably not. But it will greatly slow the aging process down – no doubt about that.

As you get older, you’ll also notice slight pains and niggles creep up all over the place. Following a program like OSNB will greatly reduce the chances of these pains and aches.

HOWEVER, that being said, if you perform the workouts and exercises with poor technique you’ll not only throw the idea of reducing pains out the window but you’ll more than likely make them worse.

Time and time again I see individuals using poor technique. Don’t be one of these people. Follow the program properly and you’ll have no worries.

Con’s

We’ll start with the sales page. The fact you have to click through 5 separate pages to finally buy the program can be a bit annoying. Now I don’t know if this is due to the amount of sales pages I have studied and scrutinized or not, but for me it is quite annoying. For you however, you might enjoy some of the content on these pages. Let me know!

Secondly, OSNB doesn’t have any instructional videos. It’s all PDF based. Text and images. The text is solid. All the workouts very effective workouts. The images are great. You can see exactly how to perform all the exercises, but a couple of video’s would have been nice.

If the trend towards workout videos continues within the industry (which I’m confident it will) I have no doubt in saying Steve and Becky Holman will be adding it in the near future – watch this space.

Pro’s

The biggest pro for me has to be the Growth-Threshold training. This type of training isn’t widely used but it is highly effective.

There have been times in my own workout programs that I have implemented the exact same principle that Steve and Becky promote.

Another great plus point to this type of training in regards to OSNB is that you are introduced to the principle right at the first phase – ‘LEAN’.

Another thing I think is worth mentioning is the Quick Start Workout Guide. The last thing you want to be doing after downloading the files is to start trawling through pages and pages of text and images. The ‘Quick Start Guide’ is pretty self-explanatory I think.

Finally, when you do eventually find the time to invest, you can sit down and start to make your way through the various bonus materials you get.

All round a solid program.

Old School New Body Customer and User Reviews

As a personal trainer I can buy a program and review it to help you make a decision on whether or not it’s for you. However, only you can tell me how practical it is for…..you!

Below are two OSNB user reviews.

Old School New Body Review: Conclusion

Overall Old School New Body is a solid program. While it is primarily aimed at people who are 35/40 and upwards those of you who are younger than this will still benefit.

The method of training that is used within the program is slightly different to what I’ve seen in other programs and I really like that.

While Metabolic Resistance Training is highly effective for sculpting a great body I think many trainers are heavily relying on it without trying to the take their workout to the ‘next level’.

 MRT With a Twist……..

OSNB uses an element of MRT but also comes and adds something new into the mix, and that something new is Growth-Threshold Training.

Combing this type of training with the slightly higher intensity workouts in the Shape Phase and the maximum muscle growth workouts in the Build Phase you’ll be well on your way to having a naturally younger looking body.

Old School New Body does a great job of triggering our bodies’ growth hormone which in turn helps our bodies to age at a slower rate. That said, most workout programs do offer this same benefit – just not on the same scale.

Of course, I would have liked to have seen some workout videos to go along with the program as I would have felt this would not have only given you more to follow but it would  have also been easier to consume for some of you.

With that in mind though, the current price is probably the best value for money I’ve seen on the market for some time.

We’ve already covered the fact that those who don’t exercise as they get older look far worse off than those who don’t (minus the ‘poor technique people’!) and that’s not even taking into account how their body looks on the inside….

Old School New Body does a great job of mixing the right elements of exercises together for fat loss, longevity and injury prevention, all while fueling your body in a way where you’ll not only feel younger, but look younger too. Oh, and did I say you’ll have a fantastic looking body as well? 😉
